Pawsitively Dead (A Wonder Cats Mystery Book 2) Page 16

  “Topher,” Min said.

I felt my heart jump in my throat. “What about him?”

“Well, he and Cody and I talked in the hospital too. My father has agreed to sponsor him. As soon as he’s released, he’ll move into his new apartment at the Wonder Falls Retirement Community.”

“Oh, Min, what a nice gesture.”

“You know, it’s the least I could do for the man who talked my father into changing.”

I smiled broadly. “This really is amazing.”

I was glad the past few months were behind us. The Unfamiliar was gone for now, and it was still a mystery. Did it know the Unfamiliar under my bed? Would it ever come back? We would have to see. But for now, I wanted to enjoy a moment of peace in my hometown.

“I know. I tell you, Cath, I can’t believe how things have turned out. You just never know how life is going to twist and turn and…”

Min talked with me through the morning rush, and I was happy to listen. It was almost as if the Unfamiliar had been just a tiny detail mixed in with all of the miracles that seemed to pop up like new buds after a long winter.
